Structural
design
When an object’s
structure is part of Fashion Design it is known as structural design. Structural designs are
those that are made with the size, colour and texture of an object. For e.g. weaving
different kinds of weaves. Structural design details in a dress include collar
sleeves, yokes, pockets, skirts, position of seam lines, etc.
The general requirements
for a goodstructural design are that it should be suited to the purpose, should
be simple, well proportionate and suited to the material with which it is made.
It is far more
important than decorative design because it is essential to every object or
garment whereas decorative is the luxury of fashion
design.
